ITACP's Beginning

Intern Teacher Alternative Certification Program (ITACP) began with the idea of creating high quality Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers with superior technology skills to apply in the modern classroom. The program created and approved by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (2006) is a Hybrid Educator Preparation Program (HEPP) combining face-to-face experience with online pedagogical applications. ITACP incorporates BLACKBOARD™, an online course management and document sharing system for the purpose of documenting successes and sharing technology innovations to be used in Texas public schools. Along with scientific-based instruction, the integration of technology in four key areas will be learned and used by ITACP interns: 1) hardware, 2) software, 3) peripherals, and 4) internet connections. It is the vision of ITACP that all teachers and students will have a laptop and all the necessary software, peripherals, and mediums to connect to the World Wide Web with profound success!

ITACP's Mission

The mission of the Intern Teacher Alternative Certification Program is to recruit, train, and support qualified professionals so that critical teaching vacancies in Texas schools are filled with high quality, diverse, and technologically savvy personnel.
